What do you choose? Can you have both?
Who are you? Not in the sense of your job or your interests, but what makes you happy?
Is owning a business on your list? Or maybe you are happiest working 9 to 5 at your current job.
How do YOU define success? Not how do your parents/society/your best friend/your sister define it – what is it to you?
Many times we think (or see) the advertisement of the fancy car and are led to believe that that is what success looks like – being able to own expensive things. But if that isn’t what truly makes you happy then you shouldn’t strive for it.
Too often we let other people dictate what happiness or success should look like for us when it’s not what we believe. Someone may strive to be a millionaire and tell you, only when they attain monetary wealth, will they be able to help a plethora of people and if you want to make a big impact on the world then that’s what you need to strive for too.
But you’re happy with your job – like you love your work – and are donating time and money to your local community and a handful of national charities and have the family life you have always wanted. You don’t want more and that is perfectly fine.
We all need to just take a step back and evaluate who we are – not what other’s said we should or need to be – but who we are.
I’ve been doing that lately and it’s the greatest thing to finally get some clarity on who I am and what I’m trying to achieve with my life.
