When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. – Harriet Beecher Stowe
Last week I decided I wanted to do 1,000 burpees in 10 days. That’s 100 a day. On the second day, however, I thought I was doing 1,000 in 7 days.
So for the next 2 days I did 150 burpees each day.
Then I realized that I was wrong, the original plan was 10 days! So then I regrouped and decided that I would actually do 1,000 in 8 days. And so I did.
It wasn’t easy. But it wasn’t as difficult as I thought.
It’s true what they say, your mind will quit before your body does. And so I had to get past the mental part of the challenge if I wanted to succeed.
I believe that’s how life is.
Once we push back thoughts telling us that we can’t, we win. If we listen to those thoughts, and stop before we’ve finished, then we lose. I’m not saying we’re always going to win. But when we stop believing the bullshit lies our brains come up with, then we are one step closer to having more wins than losses.
This week’s featured song is Imagine Dragons “Thunder”
I love this song because it is about never giving up. If you listen closely, towards the end of the song (at about the 2:40 mark) they sing, “Never give up,” six times. Use this song as a reminder to never give up!
