Endings are Also New Starts

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” – Dr. Seuss

Have you ever had something come to an end?

Have you ever had something come to an end that you wish could go on forever?

Change happens, sometimes when we least expect it. It can seem like the end of the world but it can also be the beginning of something wonderful.

We tend to think of change, of endings, as negatives, but I think we should learn to shift our thinking and view them as new starts. Trust me, I’ve had many things come to an end that I have cried over. But because hindsight is 20/20, I can see that the endings were for the better; the endings pushed me into something better or, at the very least, taught me something valuable about myself or a life lesson.

Here’s the truth: Difficulties will arise. Things will end. We will mourn the past. But we must not forget that an ending is also a beginning.

Cry if you must. But when you are done crying, wipe the tears away and celebrate a new beginning.

This week’s song is “Feeling Good” sung by the one and only Nina Simone:

“And I’m feeling good”
